A "Production Cooperation" agreement has been signed between baibars mechatronics aviation Inc., Turkey's first domestic agricultural unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturer, and Japan's EXEDY Corporation. The signing ceremony was attended by the Governor of Mersin, representatives of civil society organizations, and EXEDY company officials.

baibars mechatronics aviation, one of Turkey's leading companies in agricultural UAVs, designs and produces drones specifically reinforced to withstand the corrosive effects of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers, as well as the challenging physical conditions of agricultural fields. Thanks to varying battery and liquid tank capacities, these agricultural spraying drones are capable of continuous service over large agricultural areas.

Target to Produce 1,000 Units Annually

baibars also produces tactical UAVs under the name "boran," which are used in both agriculture and defense industries. Celal Çağlayan Erguvan, Vice Chairman of the Board of baibars mechatronics aviation, expressed his happiness at the ceremony for bringing the globally recognized Japanese EXEDY Corporation to Çukurova.

Erguvan stated, "With the investment from Japan, we have taken a significant step towards increasing our production and sales volume to make baibars a global brand." He added, "We plan to establish a new facility with this cooperation. We aim to reach an annual production capacity of 1,000 units by setting up a facility in Çukurova where we can produce all avionics, propulsion, and power systems for agricultural UAVs and become less dependent on external sources for battery, motor systems, and flight control systems. We hope this collaboration sets a good example and paves the way for other companies."

$15 Million Investment

Erguvan continued, "By celebrating its 100th anniversary, EXEDY aims to become a global firm with its investment. The passion of the Turkish people for aviation, especially in UAV production and field integration, is undeniable. Our duty is to sustain our globally recognized capabilities, contribute to Turkish youth's dreams in their homeland, and integrate them into employment and development in their own country, not abroad."

He also expressed hope that the legacy of aviation enthusiasts like Nuri Demirağ, Vecihi Hürkuş, and Selçuk Bayraktar, who began in the 17th century, will continue, as it is our sole wish for the future of Turkish aviation history.

Celal Çağlayan Erguvan stated that the partnership with EXEDY Corporation will start with an initial investment of approximately $15 million on October 1 and continue until March 2025. After the first phase, collaborations will extend to Indonesia and Japan.

Mersin Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan expressed his pleasure in seeing b3aibars, which operates in the fields of mechatronics and aviation with national capabilities, evolve to an international level. He emphasized that Turkey is advancing towards the "Century of Turkey" with a generation that produces projects, develops ideas, and brings them to life, not only in science and technology but in every field. Pehlivan stated, "We will draw strength from our past and look to the future. We are experiencing this example and joy here. I hope this beginning will continue technological advancements in our country."
